South Carolina and the nation are at a crossroads. Every day we see signs that we’re headed in the wrong direction. Hard working South Carolinians can’t find decent jobs and small businesses in our communities are struggling to survive. Yet the Democrats who control Congress are more eager to do the bidding of special interests rather than the people’s business. Under the Obama administration, we are currently adding $3 million dollars per minute to the national debt. I say enough is enough!
We need real change, not empty promises.
That’s why I’m running to represent the 1st Congressional District. I pledge to fight for working families and to preserve the spirit of entrepreneurship and ingenuity that has made our country great. As an owner of both successful and unsuccessful small businesses, I’ve experienced the challenges facing small business owners in today’s economic environment. Issues such as raising the minimum wage and payment of additional premiums for unemployment benefits are killers for small businesses. This must stop. I will fight to provide relief to small business owners. I understand how the current march toward intrusive government regulation, unsustainable debt and higher taxes will kill job creation.
As a former prosecutor dedicated to putting violent criminals behind bars, I also know we must not hesitate to take a firm stand against those who do us harm. That means not allowing the rights of terrorists to trump the rights of American citizens. It also requires real support of our military men and women, not just lip service. The United States should never have to apologize for aggressively protecting our vital interests at home and abroad.
